Dallas Market Center sits at the intersection of buyers and sellers that come to market year round from all corners of the world. Exhibitors show their wares with buyers that come from small, boutique stores to the largest retailers. Those wares are often products developed by small companies and independent designers. It is amazing the inspiration and innovation that show up throughout the showrooms market after market.

One large retailer that DMC is proud to host for market is Belk Department Stores. Belk, based in Charlotte, North Carolina and in business since 1888 is working hard to define Southern Style. In fact, “Modern. Southern. Style” is the tagline they developed to keep themselves on point internally and to tell their customers that they can fulfill customer needs in this realm.

In 2012, they developed a program called the Southern Designer Showcase. It was so successful in finding talented designers with a focus on southern design that they are rolling the program again in 2013. The program seeks designers based in the south or with a specific style that is oriented toward southern design. Since Belk now spans from the east coast as far west as Texas, designers in those areas should pay particular attention to applying for the opportunity to be recognized. Winning designs from the categories of women’s, men’s, kid’s apparel, shoes and women’s accessories will be featured in spring 2014 advertising campaigns sold at Belk and Belk.com.

In order to be considered, the application forms and process are available on Belk.com.

Don’t delay. The deadline for applications and completed entries is March 1, 2013 with finalists notified by April 1, 2013.
