As you may have noticed on our Facebook page the past couple of weeks, we're celebrating the 10-year anniversary of FashionCenterDallas®. Since we’ve been sharing profile features of exhibitors on social media, it’s only fair to show our blog a little love – “flashback Friday” style!
 
So, what is FashionCenterDallas? It’s Dallas Market Center’s complete apparel marketplace of more than 575 showrooms and yearly 1,000 temporary booths, merchandised in easy-to-shop neighborhoods.
 
We dug deep into our archives and chatted with our employees to bring you 10 fun facts (along with some throwback photos!) in celebration of FashionCenterDallas' decade of style!
 
Did you know… 
  1. For the first time in DMC history, it snowed inside the World Trade Center during the press conference and fashion show anticipating the opening of FashionCenterDallas. (Fake snow, of course!)
  2. FashionCenterDallas has hosted dozens of celebrities including January Jones and Martin Sheen, Project Runway winner Chloe Dao and top designers including Nicole Miller, Phillip Lim, Derek Lam, Max Azria, Edward Wilkerson, Carmen Marc Valvo and many more.

  3. 31,052 pairs of stilettos have pounded more than 50,000 ft. of FashionCenterDallas runways!
  4. The first exhibitor to sign a lease in FashionCenterDallas was Carol Quist, who still works markets in the Craig Clovis showroom.
  5. More than 7,000 gallons of paint have covered the walls of the Market Center, following trends and creating an inspirational atmosphere for FashionCenterDallas exhibitors and buyers!
  6. Legendary DJ Lady Bunny, who appeared on the hit TV show "Sex and the City," wowed apparel buyers with her remixed sounds of the 70’s during a fashion show in 2009.

  7. More than 104 beauty queens have walked their walk in FashionCenterDallas.
  8. FashionCenterDallas is home to the best view of the Dallas skyline in District One Five, a contemporary buyer lounge, which was expanded to include the wall-to-wall observation windows in 2007.



  9. Since the opening of FashionCenterDallas, 91,783 hotel room nights have been booked for apparel buyers!
  10. More than 7,160 corks have been popped at FashionCenterDallas since 2004! Help us celebrate its 10-year anniversary and ring in the next 10 years with a glass of bubbly at D15 Alive! on Thursday, March 27 at 4 p.m. in District One Five on WTC 15.
