ARTS Awards Process

Nominations

Nominating is simple and conducted completely online from March until mid-July. Promotional efforts include an international e-mail campaign and widespread advertising. Dallas Market Center and ART encourage visiting retailers, sales representatives, exhibitors, manufacturers and industry professionals to nominate during High Point, Atlanta and the June Dallas Total Home & Gift Market.

Finalists

In August, finalists determined by peer nominations are announced and heavily promoted through industry advertising and communication. Finalists then prepare and submit creative presentations that highlight award-winning attributes for judges to review and score. Presentation requirements have been streamlined to simplify this process while maintaining ARTS Awards status and value of being named a finalist. Criteria and point values vary based on the broad category of competition: manufacturing, retail, representation and product design.

Judging

Dallas Market Center and ART select judges collectively each year. They strive to obtain an impartial jury by including panel members from all parts of the industry. A typical judging panel may include a product designer, interior designer, retailer, trade publication journalist, an industry university professor, marketing or business professionals or other industry leaders.

The ARTS Awards judging process takes place in November, when leaders in the home accents industry come together in Dallas for an intensive, two-day review of ARTS finalist submissions. An independent accounting firm then tabulates individually-sealed, secret ballots.

Gala

The culmination of the ARTS Awards process occurs on the night of the gala each January. Nominees, judges and industry members gather in Dallas for a night of celebration as the winners and new Hall of Fame members are announced. Because this is a peer-voted program, the recipients of ARTS Awards express great emotion and gratitude for the recognition.
