Dallas Market Center Hosts Italian Fashion Expo
– More than 40 designers including Raffaella Curiel to showcase collections –
DALLAS – October 7, 2011 – Dallas Market Center, the world’s most complete wholesale marketplace, today announced that it will host the Italian Fashion Expo in cooperation with the Italian American Chamber of Commerce (IACC) during the upcoming Dallas Apparel & Accessories Market being held October 27-30. More than 40 apparel and accessories designers from five regions across Italy will present their collections on the World Trade Center (WTC) 6th floor. World-renowned, Italian-designer Raffaella Curiel will make several appearances at the Market.
The Italian Fashion Expo has hosted many public events in cities such as Houston, Texas and Chicago, Ill., but this is the first time participants will show their designs to wholesale buyers. The Expo will include internationally-known designers presenting products in categories ranging from jewelry and accessories to apparel for men, women and children. The entire four‐day event will be organized "Italian style," with multiple runway shows, gourmet food and wine samples, and cocktail receptions.
“The Italian Fashion Expo will deliver high-style, world-class resources to Market,” said Cindy Morris, COO, Dallas Market Center. “The sixth floor temporary area will provide buyers with a multifaceted experience showcasing fashion, food, wine, entertainment and more — all from Italy, right here in Dallas.”
Special guest designer Raffaella Curiel, a native of Milan, Italy, inherited her love of fashion from her mother, a gifted tailor, and has used literature, art and travel to inspire her designs. In fact, she has used many characters from literature and art as inspiration, earning her the nickname, the “intellectual of Italian fashion”. Noted for also being the world ambassador of Italian fashion, the award-winning designer is passionately involved with many charitable causes. She will show her couture designs in a booth during the entirety of the Italian Fashion Expo and also present a fashion show on Thursday, October 27 at 3 p.m. featuring her collection as well as looks highlighting Italian fashion through the years. Also appearing during the Expo is Antonio D'Amico, Gianni Versace's longtime companion.
