The Summer’s Hottest Design Trends Now Available at Dallas Market Center
DALLAS – May 23, 2011 – Dallas Market Center, the world’s most complete wholesale marketplace, today announced that the most up-to-date trends in décor and design can be found throughout its more than 2,000 permanent showrooms, which are open daily to buyers and designers of both residential projects as well as large-scale projects such as hotels and other public spaces. The following trends are available in hundreds of showrooms across the Dallas Market Center campus. Highlights include:
Upscale
Designers are leaning more and more towards the selection of large-scale chandeliers and lamps. Designers rely heavily on impactful pieces and are specifying one-of-a-kind solutions to lighting problems. Customization is key with this trend, and as always, more is more! This trend can be found in showrooms such as In-Detail, World Trade Center (WTC) #500; Stonegate Designs, Trade Mart (TM) #4701; Quoizel, TM #4402; and Global Views, WTC #608.
Finishes
Many notable designers known for their trendsetting such as Ralph Lauren, Barbara Barry, Thomas O’Brien and John Roselli are creating a gamut of finishes and then mixing them. One prominent trend in finishes is “living finishes,” or those that use no lacquers and create very soft patinas such as natural brass. This trend creates a sense of well-worn history and carefully preserved items like those sourced in Paris flea markets and European antique stores. Do not, however, confuse this trend with “shabby chic.” Chromes and brasses may be paired with leather, crystal and silk. Find this trend in Taylors On Ten, WTC #10010, and Murray Feiss, TM #4010.
High End
Higher priced goods are becoming more prevalent in interior design, which reflects a client’s refined taste and design-savvy aesthetic. Consumers are looking to experience the same level of luxury in public spaces as they do in their private residences. High-end items can be found in showrooms such as R.D. Bozeman & Associates, WTC #9071 and Contempo Designs, WTC #11025, which carries lines such as Emmi, Kunlini, Lazar Montbel and Tonelli.
Sustainable
This trend gains momentum each season as designers and manufacturers tackle the subject of sustainability. Materials such as coconut bark, bamboo, shells, recycled plastics and reclaimed woods that have a less harmful impact on the environment are prevalent in many collections. Find this trend in Charles Ray and Associates, WTC #9002; PALECEK, WTC #515; and Outdoor Living, The Plaza #1F201. Outdoor Living features lines such as Dara Lee Corporation, Hansen, Innova Hearth and Home, Ratana Patio Furniture and Seasonal Living Trading.
Color
The Pantone Color Institute suggests that when creating spaces select colors that reflect resilience such as natural outdoor shades like browns, mushroom, foliage greens and greenish yellows. Another popular palette consists of nonchalant hues such as ethereal blues, concrete grays, dusty grapes and pale yellows. To follow this trend with a more subtle range of hues, use faded roses, hazy corals, stonewashed blues and earthy reds. For furnishings and accessories that capture these important color schemes visit Turner, P.A. & Company, WTC #11072; Saro Trading Company, WTC #6650; CODARUS, WTC #531; and Bill Reiman & Associates, WTC #10014.
