Announcing the Bill Winsor Retailing Scholarship 

At Texas A&M University 


To honor the legacy of Bill Winsor, the former president, CEO, and chairman emeritus of Dallas Market Center, an endowed retailing scholarship is being created at Texas A&M University to support students in the Mays School of Business and Center for Retailing Studies.

OUR GOAL 

Support undergraduate upperclassmen who intend to pursue a profession in retail or wholesale.  

OUR PLAN 

This is a grassroots effort organized by friends who want to honor Bill’s leadership and his unwavering belief in the power of entrepreneurship and commerce. 

OUR NEED 

With your support this scholarship will be endowed at $100,000 (or more), which will support students indefinitely--allowing generations of students to study the business of retail.

How To Give

Donations are being accepted at any amount to reach our goal. The scholarship will be administered by the Mays School of Business and the Texas A& M Foundation, which is a 501(c) (3) tax-exempt organization; donations are tax deductible to the extent permitted by law. 

Donations may be made in your name or anonymously. Checks should note in the memo section: Bill Winsor Endowed Retailing Scholarship. Payments may also be made via ACH and wire transfer.

About Bill Winsor 


William M. (Bill) Winsor, passed away on December 13, 2024, in Austin following a brief illness. He was born on September 23, 1946, in Refugio, TX. In 1981, following a meeting with Trammell S. Crow and his father, Trammell Crow, he was asked to lead the development, leasing, and management of the INFOMART—a groundbreaking information technology marketplace.  

 

In 1993, following the success of the INFOMART, he joined Dallas Market Center where he assumed the role of president and CEO. In a multi-decade career at Dallas Market Center, he oversaw the management and growth of the largest B2B wholesale marketplace in the world, producing global trade events and leasing space to manufacturers and sales groups in apparel & accessories, gift, home, and lighting. Over his career he managed a business that produced thousands of trade events and incubated tens of thousands of wholesale and retail businesses. But he also invested the time to personally mentor countless employees and customers. 

 

He stepped back from daily executive responsibilities in 2015 and became chairman emeritus of Dallas Market Center but remained active in the business. 

 

He is survived by wife Kathleen Cogley Winsor; children Kelley and Mark; siblings Gloria Winsor-Smith, Hallie Paul, and Charles Winsor; grandchildren Hayden Oren Winsor, Myles Huntley Winsor, Tatum Rebecca Winsor; as well as cousins, nieces and nephews. 

 

Bill’s interests included history, cooking, music, travel, archaeology, and woodworking. He was the author of numerous articles and two books on Texas historyTexas in the Confederacy (1978) and Let's Cross Before Dark: A History of the Ferries, Fords and River Crossings of Texas (2022).
