Design and Lighting Highlights for January 2024 Markets

 
DALLAS – December 15, 2023 – The Dallas Total Home & Gift Market (January 10-16 | Temps 10-13)  and Lightovation (January 10-14), the first trade events of the new year, will offer home furnishings retailers and interior designers the opportunity to see the debut of new products and to be the first to experience exclusive events including the Lightovation Interior Designer Preview Day and the world premiere of the Metaverse Lighting TrendHouse.
 

“This is truly a can’t-miss event for the design community,” said Cindy Morris, President and CEO, Dallas Market Center. “The January Markets will present new products to inspire, especially from our new and expanded exhibitors, as well as the debut of the first Metaverse Lighting TrendHouse, which features new products available from our lighting showrooms.”

New and Expanding Home and Design Showrooms

In the Interior Home + Design Center, Visual Comfort & Co. (1D111) debuts an expanded showroom with all brands together in one place. Surya debuts its new showroom in 1D321 with a celebration. MC Studio (2F140) expands to include Bernhardt Interiors and Tomlinson Furniture. Shadow Catchers Art (WTC 194) has its own showroom in the hallways between the IHDC and WTC. Noble Furniture relocates to the second floor (2F125). Game Room Furniture Partners debuts in 1D102. French Market Collection arrives (2F133). The Gallery showroom (IHDC 1D202) welcomes new exhibitors Shelfology (GL 80), The Library by Anne McGilvray (GL 18), and Home Trends & Designs (GL 102) joining recent arrival Mainly Baskets Home (GL 82).

In the World Trade Center, The Gerson Companies arrives in WTC 315; RAZ expanded in WTC 332, 340, and Ashore expands into an addition space in WTC 570. New spaces for The Light Garden (WTC 360) and many floral and holiday companies have new homes. Those include American Best (WTC 452), Cheungs (WTC 467), Diamond Star (WTC 312), Farrisilk (WTC 322), Green Import Limited (WTC 265), Maxsilk (WTC 316), Unlimited Containers (WTC 423), Vickerman Company (WTC 386), Wholesale Glass Vases (WTC 451), Zucker Feather Company (WTC 334), and Fantastic Craft (WTC 334).

Lighting News

All Interior Designers are invited to Lightovation Interior Designer Preview Day on Tuesday, January 9 to preview the newest lighting collections and trends from over 250 exhibitors, a trend tour with world-renowned trend expert Patti Carpenter, an engaging panel on technology with industry experts, and a first look at the Metaverse Lighting TrendHouse. The Metaverse Lighting TrendHouse, an immersive activation on the 3rd floor of the Trade Mart, was created in cooperation with Leslie Carothers of Savour Partnership, rendering artist and residential designer Annilee Waterman, and interior designer and retailer Shay Geyer. This groundbreaking initiative represents a significant leap forward in the realm of residential design and lighting, offering a truly immersive 3D innovative experience for industry professionals. The TrendHouse will be able to be viewed by Lightovation attendees in a special exhibition kiosk both as a 3D virtual walkthrough individual experience or via the metaverse space experience, where multiple people can join in and explore together, as avatars, at the same time. Lightovation attendees will have the choice to explore both spaces wearing a virtual reality headset provided by Dallas Market Center, or without one. Both the virtual walkthrough and the metaverse experiences of the TrendHouse will be virtual representations of a fully furnished and curated home, meticulously designed to showcase the latest trends in lighting, home decor, and technology that reflect the 2024 Lightovation Trend Report, curated by global trend forecaster Patti Carpenter and presented by Furniture Lighting and Decor magazine for the show. Coffee will be served in the TrendHouse at 10:00 AM Wednesday through Friday.

Designers are invited to the world premiere of the first Metaverse Lighting TrendHouse! View by using a pair of VR goggles or computer station and walk through 2,000 SF+ of fabulous lighting and design. The house features the latest lighting trends curated by interior designer and retailer Shay Geyer of IBB Design Fine Furnishings. Shay pulled her inspiration from the 2024 Lightovation Trend Report written by global trend ambassador, Patti Carpenter and presented by Furniture, Lighting, & Decor and Lightovation.

·      2:00 p.m. – 3 p.m. The Next Design Frontier: Explore the Future of Interior Design & Technology
Location: Trade Mart 4th Floor Elevator Lobby
Join Leslie Carothers (Savour Partnership), Annilee Waterman (designer & rendering artist), Shay Geyer (IBB Design Fine Furnishings), and special guests to learn about the role of technology in Interior Design. They will discuss their work on the Metaverse Lighting TrendHouse, how they harness the power of technology in their businesses, and where they think these innovations will lead the industry.

Follow renowned trend expert Patti Carpenter on a tour of Lighting Showrooms for an in-depth dive into the latest lighting trends pulled from the 2024 Lightovation Trend Report and where/how to source them in showrooms.

Join us for a party in real life and explore the Metaverse Lighting TrendHouse! Enjoy music, drinks, and lite bites while networking with interior designers and lighting industry professionals at this exciting premier party.


In addition to events and activations at Interior Designer Preview Day, there will be new exhibitor showrooms to inspire attendees including Lib&Co (TM 3519), which offers unique and modern designs, and SDQStaunch Lighting (TM 4331), showcasing innovative LED fixtures. New showroom openings for former SPECTRUM tenants Lit Living, XO Logic, Spectra, Windward (TM 4931) and Millennium Lighting (TM 3664.)

Returning for the second year, the International Pavilion (TM 4909) showcases lighting manufacturers from around the world. New to the Pavilion in January is Abilux, representing several lighting design brands from Brazil which range from contemporary to industrial including exemplars in sustainability Audax, Celera, Conex, FASA, Lalux, Madelustre, Omega, PDLed. London’s Buster + Punch will also showcase their collections of lighting, cabinetry hardware, and accessories.

Exhibitor activities happening in January include Savoy House (TM 4901) hosting a book signing with Breegan Jane during the week. On January 11 at 4 p.m. Minka Group (TM 4103) will be hosting a panel discussion: Designing for Tomorrow: Staying Ahead of Trends, Innovation and Lifestyle to Anticipate What Tomorrow's Client Will Want. Participants will include designers Robin Baron and Dann Foley together with global trend ambassador Patti Carpenter and moderated by Courtney Porter, editor-in-chief of Design News Now. Eurofase (TM 4002) will be hosting the ALA Women in Lighting Reception on January 10, to be followed by Bourbon & BBQ and Progress Lighting (TM 3840) will be hosting ALA Young Executives Reception January 11.

The Bigger, Better, Reimagined Temps

The Temps at Total Home & Gift Market, January 10-13, includes new categories and destinations as well as hundreds of new exhibitors. More than 40% of the exhibitors in The Temps are new to Dallas Market Center. For designers and home retailers, there are special highlights including High Style Dallas and new neighborhoods of Home and Home Textiles & Fine Linens on the 10th floor of the World Trade Center. High Style Dallas will feature a curated “best of the best” collection of décor including home accents, artwork, decorative soft goods, tabletop, and more. The collection will be a juried array of lifestyle products including, Prince of Scots, Molinos Handicrafts, Laura Park Designs, The Mood, and many others.

Additional highlights from The Temps include Trade Mart 1 Pavilion: Featuring an eclectic collection of design-oriented products from all categories of merchandise.; the Seasonal/Outdoor and Made Temps on the 12th floor of the World Trade Center; and in Market Hall, the Immediate Goods resources include Artisan, Home, and Vintage.

Lighting Trend Report
Dallas Market Center and its lighting exhibitors have released the Lightovation Trend Report for 2024, which debuted in November, focused on the form and function of home decor, architecture, and lighting elements. Copies are available online and at Lightovation. The trend report, written by global trend ambassador Patti Carpenter, features an overview of the latest home design trends with an emphasis on lighting as well as an article on how designers are using Artificial Intelligence, Augmented Reality, and Virtual Reality.

34th ARTS Awards

Dallas Market Center and ART, the creative home furnishings network, will hold the 34th ARTS Awards on Friday, January 12 at the Hilton Anatole Hotel, hosted by Thom Filicia and Carson Kressley. The ARTS Awards is the premier international awards program dedicated to home industry excellence and achievement. The ARTS Awards will include category awards as well as a special Academy of Achievement honor for Maria Mullen, CEO of Hubbardton Forge; the Legendary Leadership Award to Karen McNeill of the Home Furnishings Hall of Fame; and a special HEARTS Award presented to Amir Loloi. The ARTS Awards Preview Party takes place on Thursday at 6 p.m. on the 10th floor of the World Trade Center. ·      6:00 PM – 11:00 PM - 34th Annual ARTS Awards Gala - Celebrate with fellow design professionals at the 34th Annual Arts Awards Gala, the premier awards program in the U.S. honoring top manufacturers, retailers, designers, and sales representatives.

Style Eyes Trendspotting

This year’s panel of trend experts and retail mavens will be discovering new products at market, as the Style Eyes returns for winter as the program leveraging the knowledge and taste making skills of many leading industry social media influencers for their insights and discoveries. The Style Eyes will spot must-see and unique products and trends across the marketplace including home décor, lighting, and holiday/floral.
